Pumpkin Volcano!

Hello Families!

Sorry for the late post, but I'm so excited to share about our special activity we did last week! We made our own pumpkin volcano!!! It was so much fun and a great hands on activity too. Each child took a turn pouring baking soda and putting food coloring into our pumpkin. Then they each took turns pouring vinegar into the pumpkin and making a mini volcano. They all enjoyed our hands on activity and connection to our pumpkin unit!

As a connecting activity we read the Scholastic News article "Parts of a Pumpkin". Each student got to take a turn coming up to the board and participate. They all really enjoy this activity and the multisensory approach too!

We also read about the pumpkin life cycle! It was fun to learn about life cycles and I made sure to include some hands on components too. We each looked at the pumpkin seeds from our classroom pumpkin and had great visual supports for the rest of the stages of a pumpkin growing. We completed vocabulary, life cycle chart, read Scholastic News and did fun connecting activities.

Have a great day!!!
Miss Feeley
