Apple Life Cycle

Hello Families!

Last week we learned all about the apple life cycle. We read our adapted book, completed our vocabulary, sorting activity and comprehension check-in. Our Scholastic News subscription finally came in! We wrapped up our apple life cycle unit with a fun article all about apples and how they grow from blossoms to an apple.

Scholastic News is one of my FAVORITE activities to do with our students. We project the article onto the whiteboard and take turns going up and identifying different pictures, vocabulary, numbers, colors, and concepts. The students enjoy coming up to the board and being the "teacher"
.

After reading the projected article, each child gets their own copy of the magazine. The students then use picture symbols to identify what the article is about and then to label the different concepts/vocabulary within the magazine.

We've started playing group games together to practice turn taking and identifying of concepts like color ID, letter ID, number ID, counting and matching. They loved playing Pop the Pig & letter BINGO!

We had a great week and looking forward to yet another fun week together!

Have a great day,
Miss Feeley
