Polar Bears!

Hello Families!

This week we learned all about Polar Bears! The students were so engaged, they really love learning about all different kinds of animals. We started a "Animals That Live In The Cold" journal where they'll showcase the different activities we do and the animals we learn about. This week we started off with our vocabulary page, a Scholastic News article about polar bears, and labeling the different parts of a polar bear.

Our Scholastic News article reinforced the new vocabulary introduced earlier in the week. Everyone took turns pointing out different parts of the pictures and key words.

After we projected the article we re-read a paper copy. We glued on pictures to describe each fact presented in the article. We learned that polar bears are great swimmers, they can walk on ice, and they have dens to sleep and keep warm and there's sometimes cubs inside too!

We practiced our simple graphing skills. We counted the different polar animals and then made a bar graph!

Next week we're going to finish our polar bear comprehension questions and complete a fun craft. We're going to move onto our next animal, penguins!

Have a great weekend,
Miss Feeley
