Polar Bear Wrap Up & Penguins!
Hello Families!
We started our week by finishing up learning about polar bears. We completed our comprehension check-ins to reinforce vocabulary, PECs, following simple directions and overall comprehension. Then in the afternoon we made a polar bear craft! This craft touched on many skills such as: fine motor, following simple directions, "pulling" with their finger tips to break apart the cotton balls, squeezing the liquid glue, using their visual attention to place the different pieces in the correct spot. Both OT & Speech joined us for this group session to support both the functional and communication needs.
On Tuesday we started to learn about penguins! We read a story, completed our vocabulary in our journal, read a Scholastic News article and labeled the different parts of a penguin. Everyone did a great job with their communication, speaking in full sentences, identifying the correct picture to answer questions, identifying colors and more!
We read a Scholastic News article that PERFECTLY connected to what we were learning! We learned so much! It was great to see the students demonstrate their understanding by identifying correct answers, locating specific pictures or words. We also worked on counting and letter identification as connecting activities.
This week we'll be finishing up learning about penguins and then beginning to learn about seals! I'll also be sharing a new activity and skill everyone has been working on!
Have a great week!
Miss Feeley
