February Fun!!
Hello Families and Friends!
I hope everyone had a great week! This week we added on some new activities to our morning meeting to directly correlate with what is occurring in the different grade level classes.
We now have a blank calendar that the students will write the number "day" on to practice fine motor and writing numbers.
Next the students record and graph the weather each day. Some friends have tactile symbols to represent the weather to create understanding. They also have adapted graphs where they put on raised textured stickers.
Then, the students identify what our daily special is. Some students use symbols, while other friends are using tactile symbols to represent each of our four specials.
Friday afternoons we have our 5th grade peers come into our classroom for reverse inclusion. The 5th graders come in to read to us. We sit together as a big group and each 5th grader takes a turn reading a page and then they ask a question about the story or point to a specific picture. The students are engaged and enjoy their time with their peers.
Next week, we will be finishing our read aloud story, "Mouse & the Motorcycle" and reading a News-2-You titled Adaptive Sports Jam.
Have a great weekend, don't forget to kick back and relax!
