All About ME!

Image
Hello Families! This week we read the story: which was embedded with picture symbols to help aide and reinforce comprehension and new vocabulary! This week we did our vocabulary page, sorting by fall weather, making our OWN adapted book & comprehension check ins! We also completed our "About Me" poster for open house! We worked on our fine motor skills, placing objects within a specific boundary, identification or colors/concepts, and being able to share with friends what makes them special!    This upcoming week we'll be learning about leaves and participating in fun fall activities! Don't forget Wednesday the 29th is picture day! Have a great day! Miss Feeley

Fall & Social Inclusion Fun!

Hello Families! We had a great second week together. I think these smiling faces agree! Everyone has been doing a great job adapting to our new routine and work expectations. I'm so proud of these 4 sweet faces.   We started our fall unit this week! Throughout the week we read the book: "Fall". In this story we learned the different colors of fall and fall things. We completed pages in our fall journal: vocabulary, fall colors, sorting by color and creating our own mini book with picture symbols.  On Thursday afternoon we started our weekly "social inclusion" period with our 5th grade peers. This is a great time where their peers play directly 1:1  or in a small group with our students. The 5th graders form friendships and relationships with each student. It's so amazing to watch their natural interactions and having them explore new things with their 5th grade friends. This week we went outside to the big playground, it was so great to see them explore th...

First Week of School Fun!

Hello Families!! We all had an AMAZING first week together! Here's some fun back to school pictures, I used our classroom communication device to have the students each choose what community job they'd like to have when they grow up. Each child answered the question independently! On Tuesday we read an adaptive book that focused on "my first day of school". The story focused on the different activities that you do during the school day. The students also practiced answering questions using picture symbols and identifying pictures that are the "same". This is something we'll build off of once the students understand the expectation.  Each morning we do a classroom morning meeting together. We focus on communication and working in our adapted binders to answer questions. I present a slideshow presentation on our whiteboard that contains Boardmaker picture symbols and fun educational videos incorporated. Here's some great shots of the students in acti...
