Frogs & Rock Your Socks!

March 26, 2019 Hello Families and Friends! Last week we learned basic facts and information about frogs before we learn about their life cycle. We first completed our new "frog vocabulary" work sheet. Next, the students sorted frogs by size, labeled a diagram of a frog, completed an adapted book, and a comprehension check-in.                  On Thursday March 21st, we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day to honor and celebrate our friend Tyler and other individuals with Down syndrome. The Butterfly Life Cycle

Hello Families and Friends! Last week we read about the butterfly life cycle! We read a story, completed a vocabulary activity, then sorted butterflies, cocoons and caterpillars, made a life cycle wheel, an adapted book and then did a comprehension check-in. The students did an excellent job learning about this new information.                   We also completed a Scholastic News article "When a Rainbow Shines". The students were very engaged in the article and used their individualized communication boards and systems to be able to identify the two things needed to make a rainbow: water & sun. Some friends used objects while learning to represent the sun, water and rainbows!       Reminders:  Thursday March 21st the school will be celebrating World Down Syndrome Day! The Very Hungry Caterpillar

March 11, 2019 Hello Families and Friends! Last week we read the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar  and began to learn about the butterfly life cycle. We first learned our new vocabulary and completed an activity, we then completed a story book where the students had the put the caterpillar "on" the different fruits and food that the caterpillar ate. This activity helped to reinforce positional concepts and review a past core word we worked on from speech. Then we completed a caterpillar color activity and had to follow directions to make the caterpillars each a different color. Last, we completed a days of the week reader where they matched the correct day to the food the caterpillar ate.
