Penguin Fun

Image
Hello Families! Last week we celebrated our friends Gabriel and Brandon for World Sight Day! We've continued reading our story, Mr. Popper's Penguins. So far in our story the penguin, Captain Cook sleeps in the freezer. We completed a worksheet to tell WHY he sleeps in the freezer. The students also made themselves into penguins- cutest crew around!!   Here are some great action shots of the students and their peers during social inclusion. They truly enjoy playing with peers and participating in the stations set up! Today the 5th grades have planned a Halloween Extravaganza for us.   Have a great day! Miss Feeley

Penguins & Celebrations

Hello Families and Friends!!!  Last week we celebrated Down Syndrome Month and wore our crazy socks to celebrate our friend Lorenzo! I love to take time to celebrate friends and our differences.  On Tuesday, we're going to celebrate our friends Gabriel & Brandon and World Sight Day. Please have your child wear a white shirt! Though we are a little late I want to take the time to make sure we celebrate ALL of the pieces that makes us unique.  Last week we started our new chapter book, Mr. Popper's Penguins! So far the kids have really enjoyed the story and the connecting activities.      A group of 5th graders came in this afternoon to kick off our "reading buddy" time on Fridays. Flat Stanley Wrap Up!

Hello Families and Friends! Last Friday we completed our Flat Stanley unit! We had fun reading and completing connecting activities. The students wrote with picture symbols, words and /or tactile symbols a summary of the story. They were very engaged and had fun sitting together to read as a class.    On Friday, the Smithfield Fire Department came in for a Fire Safety presentation. The students were very engaged and LOVED being able to explore and see the fire truck at the end of the presentation!      This week we are beginning our next adapted story: Mr. Popper's Penguins!  Have a great week!
